Zoo Negara Malaysia has sparked excitement after hinting at the possible public unveiling of its newly arrived giant pandas, Chen Xing and Xiao Yue, through a teaser shared on its official Facebook page today.
The post featured a short video offering only partial glimpses of the animal, showing its ears and mouth while keeping its full appearance hidden. Accompanied by the caption, “Something to look forward to… can you guess which animal this is?”, the teaser quickly drew attention from animal lovers and netizens.
The hint comes about a month after the male panda Chen Xing and female panda Xiao Yue arrived in Malaysia from China on Nov 19 as part of a bilateral conservation and friendship programme.
Previously, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability said the pandas were required to undergo a one-month quarantine period under close monitoring by veterinarians and animal keepers before being introduced to the public.
The ministry also noted that the arrival of the giant pandas symbolises the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Malaysia and China, particularly in wildlife conservation efforts.
