A total of 65 individuals, including a teenager performing a dangerous wheelie stunt, were arrested during the “Op Khas Samseng Jalanan” operation in Kuantan on Sunday. The operation, which ran from 4pm to 11pm, targeted illegal street racing hotspots across the state capital.
Acting Kuantan police chief Superintendent Mohd Adli Mat Daud said an 18-year-old rider was caught executing a wheelie near the Pantai Sepat Muslim cemetery when he was intercepted by enforcement officers. “His reckless actions posed a serious risk to himself and other road users,” Adli said in a statement.
During the operation, police issued 194 summonses and seized 24 motorcycles for various traffic violations, including riding without a valid licence, using illegally modified motorcycles, displaying false registration plates, and using modified exhausts.
“All suspects detained were between the ages of 15 and 25,” Adli added, noting that the operation was conducted in response to public complaints over dangerous street racing near residential areas.

The teen caught performing the wheelie is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving. If convicted, he could face up to five years in jail and a fine of up to RM15,000.
Police have also identified several key hotspots frequently used for illegal racing, including the stretch between Kampung Sungai Soi and Tanjung Lumpur. Adli said such operations will continue to curb the rise of illegal racing and ensure road safety for the public.
