Airline Urges Passengers to Arrive 4 Hours Early Amid Year-End Travel Rush

Date:

Batik Air has issued a travel advisory urging passengers to arrive at airports at least four hours before their flights due to increased traffic during the year-end holiday season.

In a statement to SAYS on 23 December, the airline explained that the advisory is designed to give travellers ample time for check-in, security screening, and other airport procedures.

“This measure is intended to support a smoother and more comfortable travel experience during peak periods. Batik Air appreciates passengers’ patience and support,” the statement read.

Earlier this month, Malaysia Airlines issued a similar advisory, recommending passengers arrive earlier than usual for flights between 19 December 2025 and 11 January 2026. Travellers were encouraged to complete online check-in 48 hours to 90 minutes before departure.

Passengers were also reminded that the boarding pass scan cut-off is 40 minutes before domestic flights and 50 minutes for international flights, while gates close 30 minutes prior to departure.

Additionally, aerotrain services at KLIA may be temporarily replaced with shuttle buses during nightly maintenance from 9pm to 7am until 31 December, potentially increasing walking or transfer times to departure gates.

Normally, passengers are advised to arrive three hours before international flights and two hours before domestic flights. The extra hour during the holiday season is aimed at reducing delays and the risk of missed flights amid heavier airport congestion.
