Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed the Madani Government’s commitment to preserving harmony in diversity as the foundation of national progress, while continuing to strengthen the economy to improve the well-being of the people.
He said the government would move forward confidently alongside Malaysians as the nation embraces new hopes in the year ahead.
“This is the Madani Government’s commitment to Malaysia. Happy New Year!” Anwar said in a Facebook post shared last night.
In the same post, Anwar uploaded a one-minute and 47-second video of his New Year celebrations with Malaysians on Tuesday night, which also marked the launch momentum for the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY 2026) campaign.
The VMY 2026 campaign officially began with the Visit Malaysia 2026 Countdown Festival, a large-scale New Year’s Eve celebration held at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
The event, attended by Anwar and Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, was aimed at generating early momentum for Malaysia’s tourism sector, with a target of attracting 43 million visitor arrivals in 2026.
The government hopes the campaign will position Malaysia as a leading destination for global travellers while contributing to sustained economic growth.
