A man in his 20s was arrested by police after allegedly attacking multiple patients in the waiting area of the Emergency and Trauma Department at Bolton Hospital, England.
Authorities said they received an emergency call at around 4.15 pm on Friday reporting a man behaving violently toward other patients. According to reports, the suspect reportedly struck an elderly man, causing him to fall to the floor, and also bit another individual who attempted to intervene.
Eyewitness Michael Anderson said he acted quickly alongside a nurse to restrain the man before hospital security arrived. Michael, who was accompanying his pregnant partner at the time, described the suspect as increasingly uncontrollable, pacing the waiting room, and seemingly counting people before storming into the corridor and shouting.
“I managed to take him down and hold him until security and police arrived,” Michael said, recalling the incident.
Several photos circulating online show multiple police vehicles outside the hospital’s emergency entrance.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed that the man has been taken into custody to assist with investigations. He faces several charges, including causing grievous bodily harm, common assault, assault on police officers, and racially aggravated public order offences.
Police have not released details regarding the extent of injuries sustained by the victims.
