Malaysia to Roll Out New Passport and Redesigned MyKad by June

Date:

The government is set to roll out a new Malaysian passport and a redesigned MyKad by June this year, with a strong focus on enhanced security features.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the move is aimed at strengthening national security, as both documents play a critical role in identity verification and international travel.

He stressed that the update is part of a necessary security upgrade rather than a cosmetic change.

“These are key security documents. After a certain period, it is our responsibility to introduce new security features that keep pace with technological developments to prevent crimes such as forgery,” he said when speaking to reporters.

Saifuddin added that the new designs will incorporate updated security technologies to ensure the integrity and reliability of Malaysia’s official identification and travel documents.
