Gunfire was reported early Thursday morning outside an entertainment venue in Melaka Raya, believed to have been fired during a fight between two individuals.
The incident reportedly occurred around 4 a.m. when one of the two men involved discharged a firearm following an altercation.
According to witnesses, the sound of gunfire was heard, but many did not initially suspect a serious incident, thinking it was either part of the fight or loud music from the venue.
“I heard what sounded like two gunshots around 4 a.m., but I didn’t pay much attention,” one witness said.
A cleaning staff member added that the incident also resulted in a Perodua Myvi car window being shattered before one of the individuals fired the gun. The shots are believed to have missed their target, and no injuries were reported.
Another hotel worker nearby said they only realized something had happened after seeing police cordon off the area around 7 a.m.
Police were seen collecting two bullet casings at the scene, assisted by K9 units. Sinar Harian is seeking confirmation of the incident from the Melaka Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit.
