Police have arrested a football coach in his 50s over allegations of sodomy and molestation involving an underage boy in Kampung Gembut, Tanjung Sedili.
District Police Chief, Superintendent Yusof Othman, said the arrest followed a police report lodged on January 9.
“Acting on the information received, police detained the suspect on the same day to assist with investigations,” he said.
The suspect, who is a certified football coach, has been remanded for four days to facilitate investigations.
Investigation papers have been opened under Section 377C of the Penal Code for committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent. The offence carries a prison term of 5 to 20 years and may include whipping upon conviction.
Police investigations are ongoing, and the case will be referred to the public prosecutor for further action.
