The founder of streetwear brand Stoned & Co has spoken out following the viral backlash against a Ferrari driver linked to the company, announcing that the employee has been suspended pending investigation.
Andrew Ngo, who founded the local brand, said in a video posted on the company’s Facebook page that the company first became aware of the incident on January 8 when the video showing the driver verbally assaulting a member of the public surfaced on social media.
Ngo said the driver was instructed to contact the victim and apologize, and the company offered to cover any damages resulting from the incident. However, a second video posted by the driver on January 11 prompted another attempt to reach the victim, which did not receive a response.
He stressed that Stoned & Co does not condone or cover up the personal actions of any employee. The company has since conducted an internal restructuring and removed the driver from all management responsibilities.
“From now on, any personal actions or decisions by this individual are entirely separate from Stoned & Co,” Ngo said.
Ngo also expressed disappointment that the brand’s 13 years of hard work building the company into a multinational streetwear label have been overshadowed by the incident.
“We have spent over a decade turning an idea into the brand it is today. This is not just a business, it is a responsibility,” he added.
