The husband of late actress Nadia Kesuma, Professor Dr Muhammad Kamarul Kabilan Abdullah, has urged the public to wait for an official statement from Wisma Putra, which is expected to be released today, regarding the cause of his wife’s death.
Kamarul said all relevant details surrounding Nadia’s passing had already been conveyed to the Foreign Ministry.
“Wisma Putra will issue an official statement. They have requested information from me, and everything has been shared. I believe they will make the announcement shortly,” he told BH Online.
Earlier this morning, Kamarul announced Nadia’s death in a Facebook post.
He also confirmed that the remains of the late actress, whose real name was Nadiah Kasumawati Abdul Karim, 50, will not be repatriated to Malaysia and will instead be laid to rest in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
According to Kamarul, the decision was made following discussions and agreement among family members.
“We will not be bringing her home. She will be buried in Jeddah. This decision was made after family discussions, and I believe this is what she would have wanted,” he said.
Nadia had previously been reported missing after transiting at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah last Thursday while travelling from Kuala Lumpur to London.
Wisma Putra later confirmed that she had been located after leaving the airport, following earlier reports that she was missing in Saudi Arabia.
Prior to this, Kamarul had appealed to the government to initiate diplomatic efforts with Saudi authorities to expedite the search for his wife.
The late Nadia was part of an umrah and pilgrimage group organised by a travel agency, involving 21 participants, who departed on Jan 14 for a two-week programme.
