Police Rule Out Foul Play In School Fall That Left 13-Year-Old Boy Injured

Date:

Police have confirmed that no criminal elements were involved in the incident in which a 13-year-old boy fell from a school building in Perak on June 22.

Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said investigations found that the incident was caused by the student’s own actions and was not linked to bullying or any criminal offence.

Based on witness statements, the Form One student is believed to have climbed to the upper section of the school building near a water tank on his own before falling onto the third-floor stairway area.

“So far, no criminal element has been identified. Our investigations indicate that the incident resulted from the victim’s own negligence,” Mohd Alwi said when contacted on Tuesday.

He said police have recorded statements from five individuals, including the student’s friends and teachers, to assist in the investigation.

The case remains classified as a Refer to Other Agency (ROA) matter, with further action to be handled by the school authorities.

Mohd Alwi also said the student’s condition has improved and that he has regained consciousness.

According to him, the boy’s family has since transferred him to a private hospital for further treatment.

The incident was previously reported after the 13-year-old was found in critical condition following the fall within the school compound.

The Ipoh District Police Headquarters received the initial report through the MERS 999 emergency hotline at about 2.49pm on the day of the incident.
