A 27-year-old Malaysian man was arrested after testing positive for methamphetamine during a drug screening conducted as part of an interview for a civil servant position in Sibu, Sarawak.
The Sibu District National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) said the man failed an initial urine test carried out during an interview session organised by the Sarawak Public Service Commission (SPANS).
In a Facebook post, AADK stated that the screening found the candidate positive for syabu (methamphetamine), resulting in his immediate arrest.
The man is currently being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug and Substance Abusers and Addicts (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983.
AADK said the case highlights the authorities’ firm stance in ensuring that candidates entering the public sector are free from drug abuse.
The agency added that enforcement efforts would continue in line with its goal of achieving a “Drug-Free 2030”.
