MOF ALERT: RM600 STR/SARA WhatsApp Message Is A SCAM – Don’t Click!

Date:

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has confirmed that a viral WhatsApp message claiming an RM600 payout under the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programs for single recipients is fake.

In a statement posted on its official X account, MOF clarified that no applications or payments for STR or SARA are processed through WhatsApp.

The public is advised not to click on suspicious links or share personal information with unknown parties. MOF emphasized that for accurate and up-to-date information, only official MOF channels should be consulted.

The fake WhatsApp message in circulation was titled: “STR Bujang 2026 – Application & SARA Assistance Payment RM600 for Eligible Recipients”.

Meanwhile, the official STR Phase 1 disbursement for this year began yesterday, involving a RM1.1 billion allocation, benefiting 3.7 million households and 1.3 million single elderly recipients, with payment amounts ranging from RM100 to RM500 depending on eligibility.

For SARA, monthly payments of RM50 to RM200 have been disbursed since January 9 to 8.1 million recipients, including 3.7 million households, 3.1 million singles, and 1.3 million single elderly individuals.
