Tahfiz Student Injured After Alleged Beating by Three Students

Police are investigating an alleged assault involving a tahfiz student who reportedly sustained injuries after being beaten by three fellow students at the same religious school.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said a report was received at about 11.28am on Monday.

“The victim alleged that he was assaulted by three students, resulting in bruising and swelling on both his left and right hands,” he said in a statement.

According to Naazron, the incident is believed to have occurred at about 12.30am on Jan 18, although the actual cause of the incident is still under investigation.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, which carries a penalty of up to one year’s imprisonment, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.

Members of the public with information related to the case are urged to contact the nearest police station or the investigating officer, Sergeant Muhammad Haniffa Abd Rajk, at 019-7356544 to assist with investigations.
