A lorry that was parked on the road shoulder and left unattended while its driver went out to eat is believed to have rolled on its own before crashing into five other vehicles along Jalan Persiaran Damai Perdana here on Tuesday.
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said the incident occurred at about 12.45pm and involved a total of six vehicles.
“The accident occurred when a lorry that was parked on the road shoulder and left by its driver suddenly moved on its own and struck five vehicles on both sides of the road,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
The collision resulted in damage to all the vehicles involved. However, no injuries were reported among the drivers or passengers, he added.
Naazron said the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Members of the public with information related to the incident are urged to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Ahmad Zahrein Muhd Suod, at 017-3818422.
He also advised road users to practise safe and responsible driving, comply with traffic regulations, and remain vigilant while on the road.
