13MP: New Special Tourism Investment Zones to Be Developed in Four States

Date:

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Special Tourism Investment Zones (STIZ) will be established in Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Sarawak.

These zones will be developed through collaboration between the federal and state governments, alongside private sector players and cooperatives.

Anwar said the initiative aims to boost the tourism sector by creating new tourism products centred on the country’s rich artistic, cultural, heritage, and natural assets.

He highlighted Unesco-recognised sites such as the Sungai Batu Civilisation site in Kedah, the Lenggong Valley in Perak, and the Niah Caves in Sarawak as examples of natural and cultural attractions that could serve as models for development within these zones.
