Police arrested 37 individuals in Kuching during a three-day special operation, “Op Tapis Khas,” conducted from January 25 to 27 targeting drug trafficking and abuse.
Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the arrests included two individuals under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, one under Section 39A(1), seven under Section 12(2), one under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952, and 26 under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Officers also seized 65.85 grams of methamphetamine and 63 litres of ketum water, with the total value of the confiscated items estimated at RM7,873.
“The operation’s success is the result of continuous intelligence work and cooperation from the public who provided information,” Alexson said. He added that authorities would not compromise on drug-related offences, emphasizing their seriousness under the law.
