A 31-year-old man in Thailand’s Ayutthaya province narrowly escaped death after two stray bullets flew into his home while he was sleeping, with one round landing directly on his pillow — all without him noticing.
The man, identified as Weerasak Wichitkarnpana, was asleep at home on the afternoon of Jan 20 when the incident occurred. One of the bullets pierced into his bedroom and struck his pillow, while another entered the house, leaving behind debris and damage.
Weerasak, who works night shifts, usually sleeps during the day. On that day, he was resting as usual when he woke up around 2pm to find cement fragments and dust scattered across his bed and bedroom floor.
Initially confused by the mess, he later realised that his home had been struck by stray gunfire — and that he had come dangerously close to being shot while asleep.
At the time of the incident, Weerasak lived with his wife, father, younger brother and sister-in-law. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Authorities are investigating the source of the stray bullets.
