An elderly woman was injured after being dragged approximately 10 metres during a snatch theft incident in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
Kota Bharu district police chief ACP Mohd Azmir Damiri said the 72-year-old victim lodged a police report on the same day of the incident.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 10.30am while the woman was burning rubbish in front of her house at Kampung Paloh Rambai, Ketereh.
Two unknown men on a motorcycle approached the victim, with one of them snatching a bracelet from her left wrist and attempting to pull off the necklace she was wearing.
Mohd Azmir said the victim struggled with the suspects in an attempt to defend herself, but was dragged along the road, sustaining injuries in the process.
The suspects fled the scene immediately after the attack. Police are currently working to trace and arrest those involved.
The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code, which covers robbery causing hurt.
Police have advised members of the public, particularly the elderly, to remain vigilant and avoid displaying valuables to reduce the risk of becoming targets of snatch theft.
