Chappell Roan turned heads at the 2026 Grammys in Los Angeles on Sunday with a bold fashion statement, wearing a sheer burgundy Mugler gown inspired by a spring 1998 runway look from the house. The daring dress featured nipple piercings, a low back, and a long train, allowing her henna and body art to show through the delicate fabric. At times, she added a matching sheer cape while on the red carpet. Her look was completed with cascading curls, a choker, dangling earrings, and chain-strap sandals.
The design echoed Thierry Mugler’s 1998 couture show, originally worn by Erica Vanbriel, and was reimagined in the spring 2026 collection by new creative director Miguel Castro Freitas in a star-patterned version. Roan has previously drawn inspiration from archival couture, including a Jean Paul Gaultier spring 2003 look at last year’s Grammys.
The 68th Annual Grammy Awards, hosted by Trevor Noah for the sixth straight year, celebrated the best music and artists of 2025 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
