A tragic accident in Kampung Bukit Kuching has claimed the life of a 12-year-old girl after her motorcycle collided with a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) driven by a 17-year-old Form Five student.
Kuala Selangor district police chief Superintendent Azaharudin Tajudin confirmed that the victim succumbed to her injuries at Tanjong Karang Hospital. The police received a report of her death at around 3.30 PM yesterday.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident occurred at approximately 6.45 PM the previous evening. The young girl was riding a Yamaha Ego Solaris motorcycle from Kampung Bukit Kuching toward Kampung Sungai Buloh, Jeram.
At the same time, a Perodua Alza driven by the teenage boy was approaching from Jalan Rizab Haji Omar toward Jalan Rizab Zazuli. At a four-way junction, the girl is believed to have entered the intersection abruptly, leaving the driver unable to stop in time, resulting in a collision.
“The impact flung the girl onto the Alza’s windscreen before she landed by the roadside. She suffered severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to Tanjong Karang Hospital,” Azaharudin said.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
Police also confirmed that the Perodua Alza belongs to the teenager’s mother. Authorities are now investigating whether the teen had taken the vehicle without his family’s consent.
