Grab Horror in Johor Bahru: Driver Caught Harassing Female Passenger on Camera

Date:

A Grab driver in Johor Bahru, Malaysia allegedly inappropriately touched a female passenger during a ride and even asked for her “rate.”

The incident occurred on Feb. 1 while the passenger was travelling from Taman Mount Austin towards R&F Mall. The driver’s actions were caught on camera by the passenger and later uploaded to Facebook by her sibling, who also shared a screenshot of the driver’s details.

In one video, the driver could be seen reaching towards the rear passenger seat, apparently attempting to touch the passenger’s thigh. He also asked her in Mandarin, “How old are you this year? Can you speak Mandarin?” The passenger did not respond and used her hand to shield herself from his advances.

In another clip, the man again reached back, this time trying to touch the passenger’s hand while asking, “How much? How much to rent a room with you?” She firmly responded in Mandarin, “I can’t be acquired,” and was seen gripping a piece of clothing placed over her legs for protection.

According to her sibling, the incident left the victim in tears, and she locked herself in her room immediately after returning home. “I’m really angry and my heart hurts,” the post stated.

Screenshots of the ride showed the fare cost RM64.89. The family said they would lodge a police report once the victim is emotionally ready and urged that the driver’s family, friends, and partner help correct his behaviour.
