A total of 744 participants of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme have purchased properties in Malaysia, with the largest number of buyers coming from China, Taiwan, and Singapore.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing told the Dewan Rakyat that an additional 2,637 participants are in the process of acquiring homes, including finalising their sale and purchase agreements.
“As of 31 December 2025, the top 10 nationalities purchasing property under the new phase of MM2H were China with 304 buyers, followed by Taiwan (91), Singapore (63), United States (41), United Kingdom (40), Hong Kong (34), Australia (29), Bangladesh (19), South Korea (15), Indonesia (14), and Japan (14),” he said.
Tiong made the remarks in response to a question from Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli (PN-Dungun) regarding the latest figures for property sales to foreigners under MM2H between 2023 and 2025 and the number of participants who had obtained Malaysian citizenship.
He clarified that the MM2H programme does not confer citizenship or permanent residency. Instead, it provides a long-term social visit pass with multiple-entry visa privileges, allowing participants to reside in Malaysia for durations ranging from five to 20 years.
The programme is structured into four categories: Platinum (20 years), Gold (15 years), Silver (5 years), and Special Economic Zone (10 years). Each pass is valid for five years per cycle and may be renewed until the full duration of the respective category is reached.
Addressing questions from Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd Isa (BN-Tampin) on efforts to diversify participation beyond China and Taiwan, Tiong emphasised that the programme is open to applicants worldwide.
“Do not politicise this. Applicants from Arab countries are also accepted, and some have already made purchases, though the numbers are relatively small. We will continue to intensify promotional efforts,” he added.
