Rider Accused Of Filming Under Female Students’ Skirts Sparks Outrage

Date:

A motorcycle ride-hailing driver in Thailand has come under intense criticism after being accused of using a dashboard camera to secretly record footage beneath the skirts of female students boarding his motorcycle.

The controversy erupted after footage allegedly captured by the driver’s camera surfaced online, triggering widespread outrage across Thai social media platforms.

According to reports by Thai media outlet MGR Online, the driver had positioned a dashcam at the front of his motorcycle at an upward angle, allegedly allowing it to record inappropriate footage of female passengers, particularly students wearing school uniforms.

Following public backlash, the driver, identified as Sittipong Thongnak, released a video on Facebook apologising for his actions.

In the video, he stated that he operates a motorcycle transport service and wished to apologise to all passengers who had used his service.

Sittipong insisted that he had no malicious intentions and claimed he had deleted all videos that may have caused discomfort or embarrassment to passengers.

He also apologised to parents, fellow riders and delivery drivers, as well as ride-hailing platform Grab, acknowledging that the recordings had damaged public confidence and tarnished the professional image of transport service providers.

The driver further pledged not to produce or share similar content in the future.

However, rather than easing public anger, the apology video sparked a fresh wave of criticism.

Many viewers accused Sittipong of delivering an insincere apology, pointing out that he spent most of the video looking down instead of facing the camera directly.

Critics also claimed he appeared to be reading from a prepared script and struggled to deliver the statement naturally.

Social media users flooded the comments section with negative reactions, with some accusing him of merely reciting words rather than expressing genuine remorse.

Others highlighted that many of the individuals allegedly captured in the footage appeared to be female students, arguing that the pattern raised serious concerns about the driver’s intentions.

The controversy continues to generate heated discussion online, with many users calling on transport platform operators to take firm action against the driver.

Some have also urged authorities and ride-hailing companies to strengthen monitoring measures and privacy protections to prevent similar incidents involving passengers in the future.

The case has reignited broader concerns about personal privacy, hidden recording devices and the safety of passengers using ride-hailing and motorcycle transport services.
