A 23-year-old unemployed man in Hulu Selangor is set to be formally charged for allegedly assaulting and molesting a nine-year-old girl.
Selangor Police Chief, Commissioner Datuk Shazeli Kahar, confirmed that the investigation papers have been submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor, with instructions to proceed under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt. The suspect is expected to appear at the Kuala Kubu Baharu Magistrate’s Court either today or tomorrow.
Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect was experiencing emotional disturbances at the time. If convicted under Section 325, he could face up to seven years in prison and a fine.
The alleged assault occurred on the night of January 29 in Bukit Sentosa when the girl, who was at a night market with her twin sister and older brother, was reportedly approached by the suspect. The victim was allegedly pulled into the man’s home, where the assault took place, resulting in injuries.
Authorities acted swiftly after receiving a call around 8pm reporting the incident. Bukit Sentosa police immediately located and arrested the suspect at his residence.
Shazeli added that the suspect has no prior criminal record, though a urine test indicated drug use. The case continues to be investigated.
