3 Men Charged in $610K Online Prostitution Syndicate Bust

Date:

Three Singaporean men were charged in court on August 1 for their alleged involvement in operating an online vice syndicate. Desmond Yee, 45, Angus Tan Chen Jie, 30, and Chua Yi Hao, 36, each face one charge under the Women’s Charter for reportedly living off the earnings of a woman’s prostitution between July 4 and 30. A gag order has been placed on the woman’s identity.

Police raids on July 30 led to the seizure of over S$610,000 in assets, including two luxury cars and 18 high-end watches. A police prosecutor requested the three men be held at the Central Police Division, with permission to take them out for further investigation.

Their next court appearance is scheduled for August 8. If found guilty, each could face up to seven years in jail and a fine of up to S$100,000. The three are part of a larger group of 28 individuals — eight men and 20 women, aged 21 to 61 — arrested for suspected vice-related activities.
