Police have apprehended two men in connection with the shocking discovery of a woman’s dismembered body in the Indah Permai area.
The primary suspect, a man in his 70s, was taken into custody at around 5 pm yesterday, while his son, in his 20s, was arrested later at 11 pm at a residence in Sepanggar.
Acting Kota Kinabalu police chief Supt Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman confirmed that the second suspect was detained to assist with ongoing investigations. “The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he stated, noting that jealousy is believed to be the motive behind the crime. Authorities consider the case largely solved following the arrests, although investigation papers are still pending completion.
The operation involved the Criminal Investigation Division of Kota Kinabalu district police, with support from Bukit Aman, Sabah police contingent headquarters, the D8 Technical Assistance Unit, and the Crime Prevention Patrol Unit from Luyang police station.
The gruesome discovery occurred yesterday morning when a sanitation worker found several body parts at a dumpsite in Indah Permai around 7 am. Subsequent searches led to the recovery of the victim’s head and torso nearby.
