A video featuring three male influencers handing chicken bones to a homeless man and a dog has triggered widespread outrage online. The Deputy Minister of Communications Malaysia, Teo Nie Ching has condemned the video, calling the stunt a “shameless attempt to chase clout at the expense of human dignity.”
Teo revealed that she had been receiving numerous direct messages from netizens since morning, all expressing concern over the video’s offensive content. “It’s absolutely disgusting and vulgar,” she said.
“Is this supposed to be humour? Because I’m not laughing.”
The Deputy Minister stressed that such behaviour is a violation of basic human respect. “Is it acceptable to exploit the vulnerable and spread misinformation just for views? Even if the creators later clarified they gave a proper meal, the damage was already done through how the video was presented.”
She also questioned the ethics behind the production: “Even if the homeless man agreed to be filmed, did he know the video would show chicken bones being fed to a dog afterward? Would the creators themselves be okay with being portrayed this way? Exploiting someone’s hunger and desperation for content—how is that giving back to society?”
Teo ended her statement with a stern reminder to all content creators: “Creativity has no limits, but respect must have boundaries. Chasing clout without conscience will never earn lasting support or genuine respect.”
