A Malaysian mother was left horrified after discovering maggots inside the fried chicken she bought from a Ramadan bazaar in Taiping. The shocking incident was captured in a TikTok video, where wriggling worms could be seen inside the chicken.
The woman’s daughter made the unsettling discovery but, fortunately, had not eaten any of the food. “Luckily my child hadn’t eaten the chicken yet… when we opened it, she screamed, ‘Mamaaaa! There are maggots!’” she shared.
In her post, the woman explained that she had chosen not to cook that day in order to support the food vendors at Taman Jana Ramadan bazaar. Instead, she was met with this unpleasant surprise. “I’m so sad and disappointed when traders are dishonest like this,” she wrote.
She urged food sellers to maintain proper hygiene and quality standards, warning against compromising food safety for quick profits. “Please, if you want to do business, do it with integrity and sincerity. We’re paying with our own money, not asking for free food. Don’t neglect cleanliness and food quality — it’s not just about losing money, it completely spoiled my family’s mood for breaking fast!”
The mother concluded by stating that she could not forgive the vendor for the incident, hoping it would serve as a lesson to other food sellers to prioritise hygiene and customer safety.
