Man Charged With Murder Over Dismembered Body Found In Taman Indah Permai

Date:

A man in his 70s, believed to be linked to the brutal killing of a woman whose body was dismembered and discarded across several locations in Taman Indah Permai, Sepanggar, was brought to court this morning to face a murder charge.

The suspect arrived at the court complex at about 8.25am in a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) van under tight security. The vehicle was escorted by a multi-purpose vehicle carrying officers and personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters (IPD).

Clad in an orange lock-up uniform, the handcuffed suspect was seen being led into the court compound by police officers.

Charge Under Section 302

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun confirmed yesterday that the suspect would be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. The offence carries the death penalty or imprisonment, subject to the court’s discretion.

He also revealed that three other individuals — who are the suspect’s children — may be called as prosecution witnesses in the case.

Gruesome Discovery

The murder came to light on 12 February at around 6.30am, when a rubbish lorry worker discovered human body parts while carrying out routine duties. Further checks uncovered that the victim’s body had been cut into several parts and disposed of at multiple locations around Indah Permai, Sepanggar.

Police investigations subsequently led to the arrest of the suspect’s son, aged in his 20s, followed by two other children of the suspect — both women — to assist in investigations into their possible roles and knowledge of the incident.

The case has drawn public attention due to the shocking nature of the crime, with authorities continuing their investigations as court proceedings begin.
