Man Cheats Grab of RM46,122 Using Delivery App Loophole

Date:

A Singaporean man exploited weaknesses in GrabExpress’ delivery system to defraud GrabTaxi Holdings of S$13,565.20 (approximately RM46,122), according to court documents seen by Mothership.

Dzulqarnain bin Muhamad, 35, faced three charges and admitted to two on Feb. 27. Reports indicate he used multiple Grab accounts belonging to other individuals to process 1,054 GrabExpress orders without completing any deliveries. Instead, he falsely marked packages as returned, earning “attempted delivery” fees from Grab.

Grab’s system requires delivery applicants to verify their identity via Singpass or an ID photo and log in using facial recognition. Each account is supposed to be unique, but Dzulqarnain bypassed security by changing the profile photo to his own before linking the account to his bank account.

Dzulqarnain reportedly collaborated with 30-year-old Alex Wang Xiang Yi, his acquaintance from part-time work at RedMart. Wang, who faces 31 unrelated charges including forgery, informed him of the loopholes and connected him with other drivers’ accounts to maximise fraudulent deliveries. A portion of the money earned was then shared with the account owners.

Grab discovered the fraud during an internal audit covering May 1 to Jul. 11, 2025. Investigators found five drivers, including Dzulqarnain and Wang, operating 24 accounts to process 5,540 fraudulent deliveries, defrauding Grab of over S$58,000 (approximately RM197,200) in total.

Prosecutors highlighted the scale of the scheme as evidence of Dzulqarnain’s deliberate intent and motivation. They are seeking a jail term of seven to eight months and two weeks. No restitution has been made, and the case is scheduled for mention again on Mar. 27.
