Penang Man Dies By Hanging Following Alleged Slash Attack At Restaurant

Date:

A man suspected of slashing another individual at a restaurant was found dead at a house in Pulau Tikus, Penang, police confirmed.

Penang Police Chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said a 58-year-old man arrived at the Pulau Tikus Police Station at 6.30am with head injuries, reporting that he had been attacked by a known individual at a restaurant near Pulau Tikus Market. He was immediately sent to Hospital Pulau Pinang for treatment.

Acting on the victim’s information, officers went to a house on Solok Codrington at 8.05am, where they discovered a 68-year-old man deceased in the kitchen. Police suspect he was the attacker and believe he took his own life by hanging. Post-mortem results confirmed hanging as the cause of death.

During further investigations, a machete was recovered from a rubbish bin approximately 50 metres from the attack site near Pulau Tikus Market.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by a dangerous weapon. Preliminary findings indicate the attack may have stemmed from financial disputes between the victim and the suspect.
