Two Killed In Muar Crash Involving Driver Who Tested Positive For Drugs

Two men lost their lives after the motorcycle they were travelling on collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle believed to have been driven by a man under the influence of drugs. The incident occurred along Jalan Rencong in Lenga, Muar, on Wednesday morning.

Muar District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz, confirmed that the crash took place at approximately 8.42am. The accident involved a Ford Ranger driven by a 39-year-old local man who was travelling from Pagoh towards Lenga.

Vehicle Entered Opposite Lane

Preliminary investigations indicate that the pick-up truck is suspected to have veered into the opposite lane while navigating a bend, resulting in a head-on collision with a motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction.

The impact left the 47-year-old rider and his 77-year-old pillion passenger with severe head and body injuries.

Both victims were rushed to Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah for emergency treatment. However, they were pronounced dead while receiving medical care.

Drugs Found On Driver

Further inspection of the 4WD driver led to the discovery of suspected narcotics in his possession. Police recovered 20 Eramin 5 pills weighing 5.15 grammes and 0.39 grammes of syabu.

The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
