A 41-year-old housewife, upon learning that her husband had been sexually abusing their eldest daughter for the past ten years, bravely fled her home with all her children and reported the horrific abuse to the police.
The incident came to light in Taman Damai Harmoni, Ayer Molek, Melaka, according to Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar, the Melaka State Police Chief. The victim, the couple’s 18-year-old daughter, was reportedly molested by her father since she was eight years old. The husband is also alleged to have attempted similar abuse on other children in the household.
“The mother had previously suspected her husband but never had sufficient proof to act,” said Datuk Dzulkhairi. “The children endured severe physical abuse from their biological father and were threatened not to reveal anything, resulting in their silence.”
The family’s ordeal came to a head on the night of August 2nd, around 10 p.m., when the mother confronted the reality of her husband’s crimes. Fearing for her children’s safety, she fled with them to Kuala Lumpur at approximately 12:30 a.m. the following day, seeking assistance from her brother. She then reported the abuse to the police, and the daughter was sent to the hospital for medical examination.
Authorities swiftly arrested the 41-year-old suspect. The court has granted a 7-day remand order, keeping him in custody until August 11th. Investigations are ongoing under Section 376B of the Penal Code, which covers incest.
This disturbing case highlights the challenges faced by victims of familial abuse and underscores the importance of vigilance and support in protecting vulnerable children.
