Three More Arrested Over Meru Police Station Brawl In Klang

Date:

Police have detained three additional individuals in connection with a violent clash at Meru Police Station, Klang earlier this week.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed that the three men, aged between 38 and 44, have been remanded until Saturday. He added that remand orders for five other suspects previously arrested have also been extended until tomorrow.

Preliminary investigations suggest the brawl arose from a dispute over security services territory at a housing construction site, with all suspects reportedly known to each other.

“Some of the suspects have prior criminal records, including charges for murder, attempted murder, gang robbery, and housebreaking,” Shazeli said during a media briefing.

He also revealed that one suspect is wanted under the Prevention of Crime Act 1959, while another tested positive for benzodiazepine. Authorities have seized a helmet and a metal pipe believed to have been used during the altercation. No police personnel were injured in the incident.

The police chief highlighted security concerns for stations operating from shop lots, like Meru, and said measures will be reviewed and strengthened. “The Meru Police Station is a shop lot, unlike other stations which are fenced with sentries on duty. Its limited space and single entrance are vulnerabilities,” he noted.

The case is being investigated under multiple sections of the Penal Code, the Police Act 1967, and the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.

Earlier, Klang Utara police had arrested five men aged 28 to 41 following Monday’s incident.
