Man Arrested After Stabbing Ex-Wife To Death After She Refuses Intimacy

Date:

A 58-year-old Thai man allegedly stabbed his former wife to death in a rented room in Bangkok after the woman reportedly refused his request for intimacy.

The suspect, identified as Samorn, later contacted a friend who is a police officer and confessed to killing his ex-wife, Wanatda, 49. During the call, he also revealed that he was planning to take his own life, prompting authorities to immediately deploy additional officers to the scene in the Phasi Charoen District.

Police said officers managed to persuade the suspect to abandon his suicide attempt before convincing him to surrender peacefully.

Upon entering the rented room, officers discovered Wanatda lying lifeless on a bed. She was wearing only underwear and had sustained two stab wounds to her neck.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim lived in the same building as the suspect, with their rooms located close to each other.

According to Samorn’s statement to investigators, the couple had finalised their divorce in December last year but had remained in contact following the separation.

On the day of the incident, Samorn claimed that he and Wanatda had gone out together to an entertainment venue before returning to his room while intoxicated.

He later asked the woman to engage in intimate relations, but she declined. Police said the rejection allegedly triggered the suspect’s anger, leading him to stab Wanatda fatally.

Authorities have charged Samorn under Section 288 of Thailand’s Criminal Code, which carries penalties ranging from 15 to 20 years’ imprisonment, life imprisonment, or the death penalty.

The suspect is currently being detained and has been brought before the Thon Buri Criminal Court as legal proceedings continue.
