Cambodia and Thailand Reach Full Ceasefire to Prevent Border Tensions

Date:

Cambodia and Thailand have reached a comprehensive ceasefire agreement, halting all forms of military action — including attacks on civilians, civilian infrastructure, and military targets on either side of the border.

The deal was formalised during the Extraordinary General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting held at Wisma Perwira. As part of the agreement, both nations pledged to avoid any unprovoked fire and to ensure the ceasefire is upheld without exception.

Under the terms of the ceasefire, which came into effect at 12am local time on July 28, both sides will maintain current troop positions, with no further movements allowed. Additionally, both countries agreed to suspend any military build-up, recognising that increased troop presence along the Cambodia-Thailand border could escalate tensions and hinder long-term peace efforts.
