Father Killed, Young Daughter Severely Injured In North-South Expressway Crash

Date:

A tragic road accident at Kilometer 155.8 of the North-South Expressway (Southbound) yesterday claimed the life of a 46-year-old father and left his young daughter fighting for her life. The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 PM as the family of three was traveling toward Johor Bahru.

The victim, identified as Sufaat Aini, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel due to severe head and body injuries. According to Tangkak District Police Chief, Superintendent Roslan Mohd Talib, the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) was being driven by the victim’s 41-year-old wife when she reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and ram into the left-side metal guardrail.

The impact of the collision trapped Sufaat in the front passenger seat. Firefighters from the Gambir Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), led by Operations Commander Mohd Khalid Mohd Aris, arrived at 4:42 PM following an emergency call. The team used specialized rescue equipment to extricate the victim’s body from the wreckage. While the wife survived the crash, their eight-year-old daughter, who was seated in the back, sustained serious injuries to her face and body. She was rushed to Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital (HPSF) in Muar for urgent treatment.

The police have classified the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the vehicle’s loss of control.

Authorities are appealing to the public for any information or dashcam footage regarding the crash. Witnesses are encouraged to contact Investigating Officer Inspector Nurhisyam Syafiq Mat Lopa at 013-9825324 to assist with the investigation.
