A 22-year-old man is in urgent need of between RM10,000 and RM15,000 for medical treatment following severe head and neck injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred at about 5pm when Muhammad Azmin Ahmad Fauzi was riding alone in Bagan Serai when he failed to avoid a fallen tree that had blocked the road after a storm.
His father, Ahmad Fauzi Saarani, 56, has appealed to the public for financial assistance, saying doctors have recommended immediate surgery, including the insertion of a metal plate to stabilise his son’s neck.
According to him, Azmin was on his way to a friend’s house after completing a motorcycle repair job when the accident happened.
At the time, heavy rain and strong winds had reportedly caused a tree to collapse across the road without warning.
“My son could not avoid the tree and crashed into it. He suffered serious head injuries, including fractures to two parts of his neck and blood vessel complications,” he said when met at Taiping Hospital on Tuesday.
Ahmad Fauzi said the estimated treatment cost initially ranged between RM10,000 and RM15,000, although hospital updates later indicated a reduced requirement of around RM8,100.
He added that any delay in treatment could lead to swelling and further complications.
“As a village worker, I do not have the financial means, and my son also helps support the family through work. We are really struggling to cover the medical expenses,” he said.
