Authorities in Thailand have seized 100,000 litres of diesel linked to a Malaysian logistics company in Sadao, Songkhla, and detained a Thai worker to assist in investigations.
Songkhla governor Rattasart Chotchu said the operation was launched following public complaints, which led to intelligence gathering and a joint enforcement action involving police, military personnel and local authorities.
During the raid, officials discovered a large quantity of diesel concealed in underground storage tanks at the company’s premises.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the company, owned by a Malaysian national, had been storing the fuel without a valid licence.
Authorities also believe the diesel was sourced from Malaysia and smuggled into Thailand through illegal channels.
The fuel has since been confiscated by Region 9 police, while the detained worker is being investigated under Thailand’s Fuel Control Act 1999 for unlawful possession and concealment of fuel.
