Four Police Officers Remanded Over RM12,000 Bribery Allegations

Date:

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Kelantan has remanded four police officers stationed at district police headquarters in the state over allegations of soliciting and accepting bribes amounting to approximately RM12,000.

The money is believed to have been received in exchange for not taking legal action against an individual found transporting ketum leaves in a vehicle.

A five-day remand order until April 11 was granted by Magistrate Rais Imran Hamid at the Kota Bharu Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday following an application by MACC.

According to sources, the suspects — aged between their 20s and 40s — include a sergeant, a corporal and two constables. They were arrested between 9am and 1pm on Monday at their respective workplaces.

Preliminary investigations suggest the group may have conspired in the offence in December 2025, with the alleged bribe payments transferred into a third party’s personal bank account.

Kelantan MACC director Azmin Yusoff has confirmed the arrests, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
