Mercedes-Benz Driver Allegedly Flees Without Paying RM124 Petrol Bill

Date:

A woman has drawn public criticism after allegedly driving off without paying for petrol worth 1,000 baht (RM124) at a petrol station in southern Thailand, according to Thai news portal The Thaiger.

The incident reportedly took place at around 2.42pm local time in Hat Yai, Songkhla province, recently.

CCTV footage showed a woman, believed to be aged between 30 and 35, arriving at the station in a Mercedes-Benz and initially requesting 2,000 baht (RM247) worth of fuel from an attendant.

She later reduced the amount to 1,000 baht after the fuel pump dispensed petrol slowly, according to reports.

The station attendant, identified as 23-year-old Theerapong, said the customer attempted to pay using a mobile banking app but failed due to slow internet connectivity.

“While I was walking to the cashier to verify the payment, she drove off towards Kho Hong at around 2.45pm,” he said.

He added that he did not pursue the vehicle as there were other customers waiting at the station.

Theerapong said he may file a police report if the outstanding payment is not settled.
