A pet transport journey to an adoption event turned tragic when a road accident caused several animals to escape and one cat to die after a van carrying multiple pets was hit from behind while stationary.
The incident involved a Malaysian woman who was en route to a pet adoption programme when the vehicle she was in experienced engine trouble and came to a stop along the roadside.
At the time, the van was transporting 15 cats and five dogs, all secured in carriers, when a car reportedly crashed into the rear of the stationary vehicle, triggering the chaos.
The impact caused the pet carriers inside the van to topple over, leading to several animals escaping from the vehicle immediately after the collision.
Tragically, one cat was confirmed dead following the incident, while five other cats remain missing despite search efforts.
However, some relief was reported as five dogs and several of the cats were successfully located and recovered shortly after the accident.
Images circulating online showed the woman in tears while holding one of the rescued dogs, highlighting the emotional toll of the incident.
One puppy sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby veterinary clinic for urgent treatment, while efforts continue to locate the remaining missing animals.
