A 24-year-old man has lodged a police report claiming he was sexually harassed by a group of individuals during Songkran celebrations at Khao Tang Road in Phichit, Thailand, with authorities confirming that the identities of all four suspects are already known.
The complaint was filed at the Mueang Phichit Police Station on April 16, 2026, where the victim alleged he was assaulted while attending the water festival the night before on April 15, which marked the final day of celebrations in the area.
According to the report, the victim claimed he was subjected to inappropriate physical contact by a group of individuals while in a crowded festival environment, leaving him feeling humiliated in public.
The victim clarified that he was grabbed from behind to prevent him from resisting and another three to four individuals came and sexually assaulted him by hugging, kissing and carassing him. One even reached into his pants and squeezed his genitals. Eventually, he was left with several purple and red marks on his neck.
Police said the complainant also underwent a medical examination at Phichit Hospital as part of the investigation.
Authorities confirmed that the case is being treated seriously, with investigating officers already identifying the four individuals allegedly involved. Police added that further legal action will be taken once evidence collection is completed.
The Mueang Phichit police superintendent said officers are reviewing witness accounts and available evidence, including reports that similar incidents may have been raised by other festival attendees on social media.
He added that the suspects are believed to have engaged in disorderly behaviour during the event, and reminded the public that any form of harassment or indecent conduct in public spaces will be dealt with under the law.
The case remains under investigation.
