Singapore-Based User Allegedly Behind Major Leak Of ‘The Legend Of Aang’

Date:

The upcoming animated feature “The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender” has reportedly been leaked online months ahead of its scheduled release on Paramount+, after clips and allegedly the full film surfaced on social media platform X.

The leak is said to have originated from a Singapore-based user who claimed that Nickelodeon had mistakenly sent him a full copy of the movie. The film, which is set to premiere on Oct 9 exclusively on Paramount+, quickly spread online after short clips were posted and widely shared.

According to reports cited by Wired, the user uploaded two clips from the animated movie, which has already accumulated tens of millions of views. The posts also included threats to release the full film unless an official trailer was released within days, further accelerating online attention.

The user later allegedly claimed that a friend had provided him with a full copy of the film and said he posted the clips as a form of “trolling”, arguing that since the film was not intended for cinemas, the impact was minimal. However, the content was quickly removed following copyright strikes, though copies had already circulated across platforms including X and forums such as 4chan.

The leak has drawn strong reactions from members of the production team, with animators expressing frustration over years of work being shared without consent. Animator Julia Schoel said the project had been developed with the expectation of a proper release celebration, adding that the early circulation of unfinished material undermines the efforts of the creative team.

Other members of the animation team, including director Tessa Bright from Flying Bark Studio, also voiced disappointment, describing the situation as emotionally distressing and urging fans to respect the work of the artists involved. They stressed that the film represents years of dedication and collaboration.

The original voice actor for Toph Beifong, Michaela Jill Murphy, also known as Jessie Flower, called on fans to avoid engaging with leaked material entirely, urging audiences to wait for the official release and support the creators by watching the film through legitimate platforms.

First announced in 2024 and officially titled in 2025, the film is expected to be the first instalment in a planned trilogy set in the Avatar universe. Initially intended for theatrical release, the project was later shifted to a streaming-exclusive rollout on Paramount+.

Despite the controversy, the release date for “The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender” remains unchanged, with the film still scheduled to debut on Oct 9.
