The Democratic Action Party (DAP) marked its 60th anniversary today with a renewed call for members to remain grounded, ambitious for success, and firmly focused on serving the people.
DAP National Vice-Chairman Nga Kor Ming said the party has evolved over six decades into a more mature, responsible and forward-looking political force. Speaking at a commemorative event, he reflected on the party’s journey from its early days in opposition to its current role within government.
He stressed that despite the shift in political position, DAP’s core mission remains unchanged — to uphold democracy, justice, good governance, and equality for all Malaysians regardless of background. He also highlighted the party’s identity as a multiracial political platform representing the aspirations of the wider population.
Nga, who also serves as Housing and Local Government Minister, pointed to several key achievements under his ministry as part of the government’s broader reform agenda. He noted that Malaysia recorded a historic RM241.9 billion in property transaction value, alongside approval for 500,000 affordable housing units nationwide.
He further highlighted the implementation of 15,083 infrastructure projects across the country, describing it as part of ongoing efforts to improve public amenities under the Madani government framework. These initiatives, he said, reflect a commitment to strengthening basic services at all levels of local administration.
In addition, Nga said 1,501 abandoned and delayed housing projects have been successfully revived, restoring confidence among 180,000 homebuyers. He described these outcomes as tangible progress aimed at delivering practical solutions to the people and reinforcing trust in public policy execution.
