Two boys aged 14 and 15 have been arrested after allegedly carrying out a motorcycle drive-by shooting that left a 13-year-old boy critically injured in Buriram, Thailand.
The victim, identified only as “A”, was shot in the neck while playing with friends by the roadside in his village on the night of April 20, 2026. He was rushed to Buriram Hospital in critical condition following the attack.
Police from Satuk District said the suspects were tracked down using CCTV footage before being arrested at a house in Surin Province. The case was led by investigators from Satuk Police Station under the supervision of senior officers in the district.
During questioning, one of the suspects admitted he was the pillion rider who fired the shot, claiming the attack stemmed from a prior village dispute and online provocation via social media. He said he purchased the firearm online for about 2,000 baht.
The second suspect, who was the motorcycle rider, said he believed his friend did not intend to actually shoot and expressed regret over the incident, saying he did not expect it to escalate into violence.
Police said the firearm was later discarded at an undisclosed location and efforts are ongoing to recover it as part of the investigation.
Both teenagers are facing charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm under Thailand’s firearms laws, pending updates on the victim’s medical condition. Authorities also confirmed that the suspects’ parents will be called in for questioning under child protection regulations.
