A disturbing case has emerged from Quzhou County, Handan City in Hebei Province, where a 14-year-old secondary school student was allegedly sexually assaulted after attending a karaoke session with friends.
According to mainland media reports, the Grade 9 student reportedly became intoxicated during a gathering at a KTV venue and later lost consciousness. She is believed to have been taken by a male staff member to a nearby hotel, where she was allegedly assaulted.
The case surfaced after the girl’s mother filed a police report upon her daughter returning home the next day in distress. The teenager later told her mother that she woke up naked in a hotel room with no memory of how she got there.
Authorities in Quzhou County confirmed that the suspect, a male employee surnamed Huang, has been arrested and the case has been submitted to prosecutors for review and approval of arrest.
Investigations also revealed CCTV footage allegedly showing the suspect checking into a hotel before dragging the unconscious girl from a vehicle into a room.
Officials later confirmed DNA evidence matched the suspect, strengthening the case as it moves through the legal process.
Local authorities have also taken action against the premises involved. The hotel was fined and ordered to suspend operations for two months for failing to comply with mandatory guest verification procedures, while the KTV was fined heavily and shut down for illegally admitting a minor and selling alcohol to underage customers.
The victim has since suffered severe psychological trauma, including anxiety and depression, and has engaged in self-harm behaviour. She is currently receiving hospital treatment.
