A shocking incident unfolded at a café in Bolton, Greater Manchester, when a man allegedly walked in and stabbed a customer before being overpowered in a violent struggle captured on CCTV.
Footage shows a man in a dark jacket entering the café armed with a knife and approaching a seated diner. As the victim looks up from his meal, the attacker appears to strike him in the chest, triggering a sudden fight.
The victim quickly reacts, tackling the assailant and repeatedly punching him as the confrontation spills across the café floor towards the counter area.
In a dramatic turn, a staff member manages to grab the attacker’s arm and helps disarm him during the struggle, with parts of the café’s display counter damaged in the chaos.
The injured diner, along with another person, was later treated by emergency services. Authorities confirmed their injuries were not life-threatening.
Police from Greater Manchester Police responded to the scene at around 10.30am on April 21. A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody while investigations continue.
The café, The Deli, praised the quick actions of the customer who fought back, saying his intervention helped prevent a worse outcome. In a Facebook statement, the café also announced he would be given free meals for life in appreciation of his bravery.
Police have reassured the public that the incident is being treated as isolated, with increased patrols deployed in the area while enquiries continue.
