A lorry attendant has pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court to a charge of causing the death of a four-year-old boy in an incident that occurred on April 11.
The accused, Muhammad Firdaus Zamri, 31, entered the plea after the charges were read before Judge Mohd Zul Zakiqudin Zulkifli.
He was charged with causing the death of Muhammad Adamdanial Abdul Khafidh with the intention of causing bodily injury likely to result in death, an offence under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 30 years’ imprisonment and a fine upon conviction.
The offence was allegedly committed at an unnumbered house in Kampung Banggol Katong at about 6pm on April 11.
In a separate charge, the accused also pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing injury to the same victim using a rattan cane at the same time and location, under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment, fines, whipping, or a combination of the punishments.
Deputy public prosecutor Nur Aisyah Mohamad appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented.
The court denied bail and fixed April 29 for sentencing.
